Poor Service
Monday on the 23rd November i took my son to the docter. We made a booking for his Tonsils to be removed. Today i Phoned Affinity Health spoke to Lebo, they just refuse to do the autherisation, because my GP needs to admit medical report, Treatment plan. the best of it all is that my doctor is on leave as we speak and won't be able to assist me.

At Discovery i did'nt have these problems.

27 Nov 2015, 15:21Hello VenterNadia,
Thank you for bringing your concern to our attention.
It is important to remember that Affinity Health offers medical insurance and that we are not a medical aid provider. It is indeed standard practice for a Case Manager to request a medical report and proposed treatment plan, before hospital admission is authorised. This standard procedure enables us to ascertain the possible length of stay in order to issue a guarantee of payment to the hospital.
Furthermore, the procedure to remove tonsils is considered a day procedure. In cases where serious complications occur, hospitalisation may be required. According to our policy wording, our insurance covers hospital admission should the patient be hospitalised for 24 consecutive hours from the time of admission.
We hope that this will clarify any uncer*****y you may have regarding the obtaining of hospital pre-authorisation.
Kind regards,
Affinity Health Management Team
