Not Paying Network Dr's fees

got a call from my dr today, there is outstanding consultation fee's that Affinity health has not paid.

I call Affinity Health and they tell me that even if it is a Network Dr they only pay a certain amount and not the full consultation fee, when I asked if there is any other Network Dr's in the same region who's consultation fee's are paid in full I was told NO?

I now have to pay 39% of each consultation fee myself

This is seriously ridiculous, they do not inform people when you take out the Health Insurance that they only pay a certain amount, they make you believe that you have unlimited GP visits and that it would be covered by them

this is really frustrating and poor service on their side!!!!

Dear Lenie,

We have taken cognisance of your concern regarding the General Practitioners that are on the contracted network, but deliver services as private patients which results in certain instances of levies for the members.

Affinity Health endeavors to deliver a service of world class standards. With this goal in mind, it does in certain instances in this country, result in monopolies where there are very few practices in certain areas and the only way possible to agree to the provider servicing our members is that they charge a levy to the member. These instances are however kept to a very minimum and when promoting our product, we attempt to always make the member aware of the particular area network providers, including any of these exclusions.

We regret that in your case this was not the modis operandi. Kindly provide us with the details of the provider and area and we will gladly direct you to a fully contracted General Practitioner.

We look forward to a long and mutually rewarding relationship in quality affordable healthcare for all.

Kind regards,

Affinity Health Management Team
