Good day Hendrik,
Thank you for taking the time to report your experience with us on HelloPeter, unfortunately, attempts to contact you telephonically have proven unsuccessful hence our decision to send you an email in order to avoid any further delay in communication. Please note that an investigation has been undertaken regarding your complaint and the findings are detailed below:
Upon receipt of your complaint we referred the matter back to Spec Savers in order to determine why you were liable for a co-payment; as mentioned in your complaint we advertise that we will cover the below in terms of Optometry:
“One eye test and one set of standard frames and lenses per beneficiary per 24 months.”
We have reviewed your quote and we have covered your eye test in full as well as paid for standard frames and standard lenses up to our benefit limit. Upon further inspection of your quote, the additional costs that you have incurred have stemmed from you choosing frames that we do not cover as well as opting for ARC on your lenses and this add on is a 1.6 index material not the normal 1.5 index due to your high prescription, unfortunately by opting for these extra’s you have incurred an additional cost that Affinity will not cover as it is not in accordance with our benefits.
Furthermore, we liaised with Anathi [the consultant who assisted you at Spec Savers] and she advised that she did show you what frames we would cover, however, you chose to not select a pair of those frames due to the fact that they were small on your face.
Please note that Affinity has honoured the benefits advertised in full and the additional costs incurred were as a result of you claiming outside of benefits.
We trust that you will find the above in order, should you require any further assistance or clarification in this regard please do not hesitate to make contact with us and we will gladly assist you.
Kind Regards,
Affinity Health Management Team
