I have just had one of the worst experiences of my life with Affinity Health. So my daughter needed to be admitted to the hospital because of a variety of symptoms including struggling to breathe, fever and intense stomach cramps. We arrived at the Parklands Springs hospital at around 19:00. We only got approval from Affinity health to be admitted at 01:30 the next morning. Thankfully the hospital let admitted us without getting the necessary approval. I then found out that Affinity Health will only be paying R18 946.36 out of R54 000.00 that was charged by the hospital based on the initial treatment plan pending an investigation on any pre-existing conditions that my daughter might have had. This means that I would have to make a co payment of R 33053.64. I didn’t have a problem with that because, as is common knowledge, a pre-existing condition has to do with a chronic or long term condition. To my surprise, I found out the next day that I had to pay R 32 400 because, after their investigation, they found out that my daughter had previously been admitted by the hospital years ago for a throat infection. Therefore, they said that they will not pay for anything that has to do with the respiratory system. I asked him that if my daughter got punched in the nose and got injured, that they would not pay for the the treatment. He said that no, that is an injury. I was told that Affinity Health would just not pay for anything from the throat downwards. This is totally absurd. I initially thought that the reason for this was because the owners of the company were genuinely mistaken until I went on Hello Peter and realised that they had 5000 positive reviews that are artificial. This made me realise that they know exactly what they are doing. I hope this message reaches at least one person who will not be hoodwinked by these ******. I hope justice will be served one day.

I have also noticed that in most of the complaints I have seen on this website, they have only paid R22 000 regardless of the cost of the hospital stay. This means that they cap the payment to that amount and then make up a lame excuse as to why they wont pay the rest

Thank you very much for sorting this issue out,I was told by the receptionist that they only received authorization at around 01:30, someone is not telling the truth between you guys. To say that a throat infection from 2020 is a pre-existing condition is either a lie or pure ignorance. If that is your reasoning, then every kind of sickness can be classified as a pre-existing condition, which is not the case. Your policies clearly are determined by people who are not qualified in public health. This shows that I am going to have to fight with you guys every time I need your assistance.
