FAILING TO GIVE ME THE CORRECT INFORMATION AND DOING SO COSTS ME MONEY

On 8 October 2017 I phoned Affinity Health to find out how I go about getting hospital authorisation to have my daughters tonsels removed. The agent I spoke to told me they will need a statement from the specialist, treatment plan and estimate costs for the whole procedure. All good i had an appointment with a specialist already.

Today 9 October 2017 was the appointment with the specialist. He wanted to remove her tonsels this afternoon but I had to get authorisation from affinity first. He gave me everything i needed to send to affinity in oreder to get the authorisation for the procedure. I git home and phoned affinity. I spoke to another lady i asked her how i go about sending the information through to get the authorisation. She asked for the member number. She told me straight away once she was in my daughters profile that affinity health does not cover tonsel procedures.

How come the lady I spoke to on the 8th of October didnt tell me this?? She could have told me from the get go affinity doesnt cover tonsels. Because of her lack of information i waited in the waiting room for two hours and i had to pay R900.00 which affinity is not going to give since my daughter already saw a specialist this year.

This is unacceptable if I knew from the get go they will not cover the procedure i would not have waisted my money and time.
