Conned into joining Affinity Health

In July of this year I phoned in to find out if I can put my daughter of 7 years old under this medical cover. She has a heart and liver condition that I wanted to make sure will be covered. Everyone was so helpful and quick to assist. A lady phoned me back to confirm the names of the conditions. She then confirmed that it will be covered, there will only be a waiting period. Which I understand.

Today I called in to confirm the waiting period seeing as my daughter would need a valve replacement in a year or so. The woman I spoke to then told me that these conditions are not covered.

I told these people that there is no point in joining of these conditions are not covered. They insured me that it will be covered. What have I been paying for!!!! I have been conned into joining and they have **** to me!!!! I feel that all the payment I have made are owes to me!!! They need to give me my money back. I will not stand for **********.

Reviewer Update

I have just received an email from Phumelele. She stated that ALL my daughters conditions are not covered. It's states so in the membership certificate, which I am not in procession of. There was no way that I would have taken out this cover knowing that the condition would not have been covered. Michelle confirmed on the telephone that it would be covered.

I am not going to let this go.

Good day Melanie,

Thank you for your patience while we investigated this matter. Due to the fact that we are a health insurance and not a medical aid, all policies are subject to an endor*****t process prior to the policy going live.

After the sale was completed your application was reviewed by an Endor*****ts Officer and all your daughter's conditions were excluded due to the nature of the conditions.

Email correspondence was sent to you on 03-05-2016 and all the endor*****ts were cited on your welcome letter.

Should you require further clarity regarding this matter a Complaints Officer would be happy to contact you and assist.

Kind Regards,

Affinity Health Management Team
