Affinity Health is not worth the hassle,
Disappointing Experience with Affinity Health
I joined Affinity Health in June 2023, as I couldn’t afford full medical aid at the time but wanted coverage in case of an accident or injury. In April 2024, my daughter tore her medial meniscus while playing hockey. Despite trying all options for natural healing, surgery was deemed essential by the orthopedic surgeon.
The total cost for the procedure was quoted at R138,000. When we contacted Affinity Health to confirm what portion they would cover, they informed us that because we waited for natural healing, we were not eligible to claim under the accident benefit, only the daily coverage limit. After much back and forth, they agreed to cover R33,000 of the cost.
However, after the surgery, Affinity Health reduced the amount further, stating that since my daughter was discharged earlier than expected, they would only cover R22,000 instead of the pre-authorized R33,000.
It feels like Affinity Health will find any excuse to pay as little as possible, with little regard for their customers’ well-being. Their focus seems solely on collecting monthly payments, with no compassion or care when you need them the most. Extremely disappointed.
