Affinity Health

I have been a member of Affinity Health for more than six months or so.. My wife had ano eye problem but we decided to go to a GP for referral to a specialist . ... Firstly we struggled for more than a week to get authorisation for hospital procedure . secondly, when she got to the specialist, she was told the procedure is approximately R3500 and affinity can only pay R1300. Which is not even half of the amount . ... People this Affinity Health thing is just a waste of time . Ask me what my next step would be . ...

Good day Peter,

Thank you for reporting your experience with us.

As discussed with our Complaints Officer this morning please note that we cannot provide you with pre-authorisation for the procedure due to the fact that your wife has not visited a Specialist as per your GP's suggestion as yet and therefore there is no treatment plan and definitive diagnosis.

Kindly note that as advised we have authorised R1300 for the Specialist Visit, therefore, your wife will need to visit the Specialist and once the Specialist has given your wife a definitive diagnosis and treatment plan, you are more than welcome to provide us with the necessary documentation and we will re-assess this matter.

I trust that you will find the above in order.

Kind Regards,

Affinity Health Management Team
