Affinity are *******s
Signed up with Affinity in November 2019. When I first called in I made it clear to the call centre agent that I am looking for a Medical Aid and not Medical Insurance which I was assured it is a medical aid. Forms were filled in and send back. The first payment was taken off in November. And when I signed up I was told Affinity would need 3 months payments before I could visit or consult a GP. January I was informed that there is a premium increase every year. On the 10th of March was the first time had to use the medical aid/insurance. My GP for the apss 15 years advised that they do not deal with Affinity and would not want to deal with them. I then phoned affinity and was told to use their network doctors which my wife and I are not comfortable with. I was told I would need to pay the doctor up front and would need to claim it back. I then did so the very next day and got a return mail from Affinity that I would need to get the doctors Practice number, sick codes and a lot more other info from the doctor before they would make payment to me witin the next 30 days. They would not pay for the medication as well because the medication that my house doctor prescribed is not on their list. I then phone Affinity to find out why should I be doing the run around if I am paying them for a service as well. I was so angry that I asked the call centre agent to cancel my policy and that she should get somebody from customer complaints to call me back. Later the afternoon I got a call from customer complaints and I took the matter up with her and also I would like to cancel my policy with Affinity due to the procedure and processes. She also confirmed that the call centre agent I spoke has canceled the policy. I then questioned her as to why would the call centre agent cancel the policy before customer complaints would contact me. I also requested a full refund for the month I paid and was told that would not happen. As per there policy I have 30 days after signing to cancel if I am not happy. How could I cancel if I could only find out after 3 months how there processes worked. Till today I have not heard from Affinity or even a mail confirming the cancellation. My advice to all that want to sign up...... PLEASE DO NOT DO SO AS THEY ARE NOT TRANSPARENT AND ARE QUICK TO TAKE YOUR MONEY FOR POOR SERVICE. Their processes are the worst I could come across. They all about taking your money and find every way not to pay out yet you paying them for health care.
