Worst service ever from Marcus
Worst service ever from Marcus. I bought an Elon heater from Plumblink, and he admitted it was a faulty first-version unit. He promised a replacement with a newer model known to work better. Later, they voided the warranty due to no COC or isolator—requirements not mentioned in the warranty docs. The unit has software issues, not physical damage. I offered to pay for repairs since I was testing it before buying 8 more units, but Marcus refused—they won’t even inspect it because it’s from a defective batch. Unacceptable. This is your product—stand by it. Sadly, many South Africans will waste money on this. Buy at your own risk

06 Oct 2025, 09:36 Subject: Clarification Regarding Voiding of Elon Device Warranty
Good Morning, Mdaka,
It appears there may be some misunderstanding regarding the reason your Elon device warranty has been voided.
The installation pamphlet provided with the Elon Smart device clearly states on the front page that the installation must be carried out by an electrical contractor registered with the Department of Labour. Additionally, it requires that a supplementary Certificate of Compliance (COC) be issued upon completion of the installation.Had the installation been completed by a qualified or at least a competent person, they would have been aware of the correct procedures for installing PV (DC) components. In your case, the system is missing a DC isolator or circuit breaker both of which are essential for safely isolating the DC supply from the Elon unit. Without these safety mechanisms, it is not possible to service or work on the system safely. Moreover, the manner in which the DC cabling has been installed specifically, the coiling introduces further risks. Coiled DC cables can increase the chances of lightning strikes, overheating, and electrical interference, all of which pose serious hazards to both your property and its occupants. If Marcus were to replace the unit without addressing these issues, he would be exposing both himself and Kwikot to significant liability should any damage or harm occur as a result.Given the circumstances, I strongly recommend that you contact the original installer to rectify the installation and seek compensation from them directly. Once the system has been brought into full compliance with all relevant electrical regulations and a valid COC is issued, you may log a service call. At that point, the matter will be handled by the Elon warranty department.
Thank you for your understanding.
