ELECTROLUX / AEG
On 10 November 2020 I purchased an AEG 7kg front-loader washing machine from Makro in Port Elizabeth. We had previously had a Samsung top-loader for nearly 15 years but had to replace it with a front-loader when we moved into a retirement centre. I was advised by the Makro salesman that AEG was "top of the range" and duly purchased the unit. I only recently spotted several rust spots on the machine. I lodged an inquiry with Makro who took up the matter with Electrolux, who requested photos, which I sent. The response from Electrolux was bizarre, to say the least. I was informed as follows:
Good afternoon Johan , Kindly find below feedback . Unfortunately, this issue stems from not cleaning the unit regularly, which is not covered under warranty, and we are unable to assist in this matter. I suggest arranging a cash-on-delivery call but be advised that a full panel replacement is necessary, and we do not carry this item in stock.
How they could come up with such ******* is bejond belief, especially as it was never inspected. I, in turn, explained that my wife and I take great care of ALL our appliances and they are always in a spotless condition. I thought they would "hide" behind the fact the two-year warranty had expired. When I escalated the matter with Electrolux and requested an explanation as how they could claim the machine was not regularly cleaned. I then received a curt message feom their national service admin manager, Lizaan Vermeulen, to say they were unable to do anything due the expiry of the warranty. SO MUCH FOR AEG PRODUCTS BEING TOP OF THE RANGE!!!!!!!
