Don't buy solar powered geysers here!!
<p>We bought one of those solar powered geysers that you see hundreds of - all over the townships, on farm cottages, etc. They're aren't pretty but they are cheap, and they are gravity flow, so we were told. No problem, we had a gravity flow geyser before and don't mind not having high pressure hot water. They forgot to tell us that these geysers don't work in winter. It's not because there is no sun, when the air temp is 20 degrees or below apparently the water doesn't get hotter than 35 degrees ( if you are lucky). That's not even body temp. So when you really need hot water you don't have it, and when you don't mind a cold shower, in summer, the water is 50 degrees. Why do I get the feeling that I have been totally **********? And that thousands of less privileged people all over South Africa who I thought the government had kindly provided hot water for have also been **********? When we phoned they said "oh no, you should have been told that it doesn't work in winter, and no we won't take it back and we won't give you a refund. "</p>
Solar power means the sun is used for energy. This geyser has no electricity, no element to heat the water like a high pressure solar geyser that uses electricity for back-up should there not be sufficient sun available. to heat the water to the satisfaction of the customer. As you said, they are cheap, reason being no electricity needed. It is not the geyser that is not doing it's job, it was the incorrect product you bought for your needs. To solve your problem, you will need to purchasec a high pressure solar, but could cost you 3 - 4 times the money. The choice is yours. Regards (GM) van Lelyveld

What I don't understand is why your business does not communicate this information. Your technical person in Jo'burg ays of course it works. Your tech in Cape Town says of course it doesn't. The sun has been shining for days, it's not especially hot outside, but it's around 20 degrees or so. The geyser does not heat the water. That is misinformation on your part. You should have that information on your website and on the packaging of the product. THIS product does not heat water in winter, even if the sun is shining.

The unfortunate part is the Sales Person who sold it to you. Were the corrections Questions asked and what were the reasons given to him why you want this product. Please take it up with them and get in touch with our Cape Town branch.

Funnily enough the one question I didn't think of asking was "does this geyser work?" . I knew I was buying a low pressure geyser, he made that clear. I knew there was no electrical back up. But why should I even think of asking ig it works when the weather is cold and the sun is shining? Solar power, right? Your Cape Town branch told us it definitely doesn't work in winter (after we had bought it..) and refused to take it back or to give us a refund.
