AEG (Electrolux) Washing Machine Door Mechanism Failure
We bought an AEG 7kg washing machine from Tafelberg Meubels one year ago (mid 2019), and opted to go for the extended warranty offered by the retailer for 5 years of coverage should anything go bad on the machine. My wife and I work with the machine, and we try to take care in the operation thereof. Since we have three little ones at home, and it being fairly busy, we usually put the washing in and start the machine leaving it to finish (about a three hour cycle). When my wife wanted to open the door of the machine after it has finished, she noticed a click as the door handle mechanism seemed to have broken, leaving the door stuck in the closed position with no way of opening it. This happened the Wednesday afternoon. We reported it to Tafelberg Meubels, to log a case with AEG. After many phone calls to Tafelberg (and AEG), and being continually cut off by extremely rude and unprofessional AEG Personel whilst trying to get our mashine looked at, an assessor was sent to our house (Friday) only to inform us that it is AEG's policy to not fix such cases and that we should now pay his call-out. Why then send him out if it is the standard policy to not honor your warranty? They used every opportunity to convince us that we were too hard handed, while opening the door of the washing machine, and that we are at fault. AEG washing machines have weak doors, even the assessor conceded to it, and their after sales service is non-existent and extremely unprofessional to say the least. Total *****. Do not support them and come to regret it like we did.
