No Adrenalin X here!!!
I arrived on Saturday 17 February for my son’s birthday outing which included air rifle, crossbow and archery. After looking at the Adrenalin X website we were looking forward to a fun afternoon, however I have to say it was a complete and utter disappointment and a ******* to say the very least.
It is probably easier to list my grievances: - There is no reception. When my husband and I arrived at some arbitrary office door to introduce yourselves we were greeted with the blankest of stares by the staff who had to run off to check what was happening. - Victor, who although pleasant – could barely make himself understood and was our ‘instructor’. He did a pathetic job of explaining, whether through lack of knowledge, training or ability I do not know, but he was useless. There was not safety briefing etc. In fact we had just started with the crossbow shooting when another member of staff (possibly from the kitchen) – came and interrupted our activity rather rudely to ask him to carry some serving dishes down to another party. Victor then disappeared for 10 minutes to help her leaving us sitting there waiting. We managed to figure out how the crossbows worked and carried on shooting ourselves… not really the right thing to do from a safety point of view, but luckily my husband is responsible so was able to supervise. - The targets are falling apart – if the facilities & equipment are broken at least remove them from the public area – it looked like a ******* dump. It was embarrassing. - Many of the bows for both the crossbows and the archery where broken – and were missing flights… - The wooden bench we were sitting on was somewhat rickety and unsteady. - There was no shade bar a small piece of shade netting which was hopelessly inadequate so those who were not shooting had to stand in the blazing sun – this is Pretoria – shade is imperative at an outdoor venue. - There were no extra chairs or seating for those not involved in the activity – I eventually asked another of the staff members for one of the blanket I spotted in the office – again I was greeted with a blank stare, handed the blanket without a word being said. - I asked to purchase some water or cooldrinks because, although we had provided our little party with a cooldrink they had drunk this in the car and due to no shade everyone was very thirsty. The website says cooldrinks can be purchased albeit at R2,50 per glass however when I asked the staff they said there was no water or cooldrink to purchase but there was beer – how ridiculous at a venue that hosts children’s parties. I had to leave the party and go and purchase my own refreshments. - The instructions given for the use of the archery equipment were incorrect (not that Victor said much – it was more like show and tell) and again with our limited knowledge of the sport we figured out how to use the equipment properly. - No arm guards were supp**** so all the children were slightly bruised after using the bows and arrows – surely it would be appropriate to provide some kind of protective gear or at the very least recommend visitors bring a long sleeved shirt if they are going to do archery. - In the middle of the archery a youngster from one of the other parties came to ask Victor something (which turned out – I think – to be a request to also do some archery). He left us alone again – disappeared to set up the alley next door to us. The air rifle was also just left with us – unattended. - We were then rudely interrupted by another staff member saying that we need to stop and give him the bows because he needed them next door – at which point I refused and said that we had booked our activities until 4pm and they would have to wait until we were finished. - Equipment was merely dumped on the floor – no arrow holders or stands as I have seen before at other facilities we have visited. - We finished off on our own and left without so much of a good-bye from your staff. - When I asked to see the owner or a manager I was told there was no-one available – pathetic and unprofessional.
And I paid R900 for this… what a joke.
The testimonials and pics on the website do not reflect either the service or the quality of the facilities on offer. I was left feeling embarrassed in front of my son’s friends and despite putting on a brave face my son was extremely disappointed by the day. There is no way you can make up this disappointment to an 11 year old. I will never recommend your facility to anyone – which is a pity as it has potential to be a great outing for families, parties and corporates, but from the way it is being run and maintained now – it is a waste of time and money.
