Is Adobe beginning to take advantage of it's market prescence.?

Having used Adobe for quite some years on printing of pdf documents I had no qualms with their products. A recent upgrade in Windows has now left me frustrated in printing their pdf documents in that, inevitably, I have to change the pdf to docx or xlsx format to print a copy. Whilst I see the facility to convert document format is there I did not, suddenly, expect to pay $24 a month for the privilege. Furthermore, if your pdf document is password protected it seems one option is to buy/rent another Adobe product. I cannot believe I am the only one who has gone through this process because if I have, there is a problem with my Windows upgrade or it's me.
