BE VERY CAREFUL WHEN DEALING WITH ADJUST4SLEEP/HCMA

BE VERY CAREFUL WHEN DEALING WITH ADJUST4SLEEP/HCMA they are not an honourable company, or more importantly their staff are not.

I am an amputee and suffer terribly at night with neuropathic pains, to the extent that I spend most nights sitting in a chair in the lounge. The upright angle seems to block some of the pain and therefore I can get a few hours rest, not the best, but the best in my circumstances. My wife saw an advert for adjustable beds and suggested that we contact them as they would demo a bed that could raise up almost vertical and that it would be softer, and I may get more sleep.

Demo setup and we were advised that a “product specialist” a Mr Hayden Vincent would come and demo the bed.

This was setup for 17 June 2022. Hayden setup the bed and my wife tested for 10 minutes, and I also tested for approx. 10 minutes. I explained that I only get pain at night hence my request to test or rent the bed for a couple of days, but the answer was NO. Hayden assured us numerous times that the bed would resolve my issues. I asked that if the bed did not resolve my pain issues would they take the bed back. Hayden said that if this did happen that he would talk to his boss and that they would take back the bed as they had done so before. He said this to both me and my wife.

As I was satisfied that we had reduced the risk I signed an order. He told me that I would get a confirmation email the next week with the terms and conditions. I received the order confirmation and terms and conditions, but there was nothing about returning the bed should it not reduce my pain. I tried to call Hayden and could not get hold of him, so I sent a mail confirming these conditions and some other issues. Hayden called me and we discussed my email, he did not deny that he said that they would take back the bed should it not work. After this call, he (Hayden) supposedly wrote me an email rejecting this clause, however I did not get the email, as he made a mistake with my email address. I maintain that this was done on purpose because Hayden knew if I had received his mail, not accepting that the bed could be returned if unsuccessful, that I would have cancelled the order. Subsequently I have been given a copy of an email that Hayden is supposed to have written to me, with the incorrect email address.

Hayden would have received notification that the email was returned undelivered. His Boss Craig Nunns (General Manager) says that he personally contacted the hosting company and they investigated and said that there was no undelivered notification. I don’t believe this story.

The bed was delivered and after 3 days of still having pains at night I contacted Adjust4SLEEP Customer service requesting that they take back the bed. They said that the request would be referred to upper management. About a week later I got an email from the COO stating that they will not take the bed back.

I then had numerous telephonic discussions with the General Manager, Craig Nunns to try and resolve the situation, but despite him saying that he wanted to help, all I received was NO, NO, NO.

My suggestions 1. I suggested that they take back the bed and as it is a standard ¾ bed that they can sell to someone else and that I would pay a handling fee for costs incurred such as changing mattress etc, Answer from Nunns. No cannot do 2. I suggested that they take back the bed and break up and use expensive parts for production of another bed, and charge me a handling fee for costs incurred, Answer from Nunns. No cannot do 3. I suggested that they take back the bed and use for salesman demo and that they can charge me a handling fee for costs incurred, Answer from Nunns. No cannot do.

No suggestions from Nunns, Just we are not taking back the bed.

As you can see Adjust4SLEEP is completely inflexible and will do anything to get an order, to the extent that Hayden **** to our face. (Both me and my wife) The last time we spoke was around the 23 June when we discussed my email on the terms and conditions. He does not answer when we try and call him. I requested that he come to my house and look me in the eyes and confirm that he did not commit to taking back the bed, but alas he will not because he knows that he ****.

I now have a ADJUST4SLEEP bed that I paid R 52000 that I have no use for.

 Dear Peter M,
We are very sorry to hear that you are still unhappy with the adjustable bed as we genuinely endeavor to satisfy every one of our clients, hence the reason we have repeatedly engaged with you in an attempt to resolve your concerns.  We pride ourselves on the fact that we spend a significant amount of time with our clients, more than any bed company we know, to give them the opportunity to test the bed and ensure that it is suitable for your needs. This is done prior to quoting and manufacturing, as we custom-make our beds for each and every client.  Only once they are satisfied do they place their order and we then custom build their bed to the specifications as reflected on their order.  While you may feel that we have turned down some of your proposals, some of which we have explained are not practical or will have significant costs associated to it, so have you not been willing to amicably resolve the situation.  Your primary complaint was that the bed was not reducing the pain in your stump, something which we could never advise you on and possibly wishful expectations from any bed.  The Product Specialist you refer to and accuse of lying, has worked for the company for over 10 years and has never made or been accused of making such a promise to a client.   In August, it was also offered that a Senior Manager visit you and we will continue to assist you where we can within the parameters of our agreement and as fairly as possible. We hope that with proper use and time to allow the mattress to become conditioned, you will enjoy the bed for many years to come.
