Adjust4sleep - The Most Uncomfortable Bed Ever Purchased!
We purchased an Adjust4Sleep bed in October 2024 from Health Care and Mobility/Adjust4Sleep and have had discussions with their Customer Care Team who have been rather helpful. We have requested a refund from Health Care and Mobility/Adjust4Sleep for the Adjust4Sleep bed as we have not had a decent nights rest since we have purchased the bed, due to the following reasons: #1 The first set of mattresses that came with the Adjust4Sleep bed were to soft and we could feel the massage components in the sponge mattress and the bamboo slates protruding into our bodies. Rather uncomfortable. I contacted Health Care and Mobility/Adjust4Sleep Customer Care in February 2025 and they sent out a team to replace the sponge mattresses with a firmer sponge mattress. #2 We are experiencing the same issue with the firmer sponge mattresses and can feel the massage components in the sponge mattress protruding into our body again. #3 I contacted Health Care and Mobility/Adjust4Sleep again in July and spoke to Charlton and informed him about the issue we were experiencing again. Charlton said they would send out the technical team again. - On the 01 Aug the Health Care and Mobility/Adjust4Sleep team came out to our home: - took the covers of the sponge mattresses took photo's of the bed. - placed an aluminum tube on the bed to see if the sponge mattresses were sagging which they were not. - I requested that they dismantle the bed and take it with them as we cannot sleep on their Adjsut4Sleep bed. They said they can't and Head office will contact me. - I then called Charlton from Health Care and Mobility/Adjust4Sleep and requested that their Team dismantle the bed and take it with them as cannot use their adjust4sleep bed. Charlton said he will speak to Health Care and Mobility/Adjust4Sleep Management about returning the bed. - Charlton also sent me an email on 01 Aug stating that he has escalated my request to Health Care and Mobility/Adjust4Sleep Management and someone will revert back to me. - On the 06 Aug 2025 I received a call from Bennie (Health Care and Mobility/Adjust4Sleep) saying they will not refund me as I have accepted the adjust4sleep bed and 6 months had already passed since we bought the adjust4sleep bed. I explained to Bennie that we can sleep on the bed and due to the massage in the sponge mattress protruding in our bodies and that this has occurred on the first set of sponge mattresses and the second set of sponge mattresses. Bennie then said they should have charged me for the second set of sponge mattresses which they did not do and had to have the soft sponge mattresses destroyed. Great customer care service answer from Bennie after stating they should have charged us for the replacing the sponge mattresses, seeing that there is a 12 month guarantee on Health Care and Mobility/Adjust4Sleep beds. When I asked Bennie Health Care and Mobility/Adjust4Sleep are going to help me in taking their bed back and refund us, he just answered and said "NO", without trying to find another solution for their customers!
I want a full refund for the Ajust4Sleep sponged mattress bed we purchased from Health Care and Mobility/Adjust4Sleep.
I am also going to lodge a complaint with the Consumer Goods and Services Ombud (CGSO) about Health Care and Mobility/Adjust4Sleep as we have not had a peaceful nights rest on their adjust4sleep bed since we received it. It doubtful that theirs beds have received any SABS approval, which could not be established when doing some research on them.
We are sorry to hear you are not sleeping well on your Adjust4Sleep adjustable bed. We endevour to make sure that we provide our customers with every opportunity to test our beds so they can determine if it is suitable for them. As you experienced, we brought a demonstration adjustable bed and mattress top to your home for you to test before deciding whether to purchase it. After delivery, when you contacted us expressing that you were not sleeping well, we asked you to try it a bit longer as it was a new bed and your body needed time to become accustomed to it.
A short while later, you contacted us again and, in the interest of customer service, we offered to exchange the mattresses for the exact specification you tested, as we specify our mattresses according to customer weight. The new mattresses, which were firmer and denser than the originals, were exchanged in January 2025 at no cost to you despite there been no faults or failures on the mattresses you had. We feel compelled to state that it would be virtually impossible to feel the slats under the mattress with ordinary use. After the exchange, you contacted us again on 22 July, almost 6 months later, to again complain that the mattress was uncomfortable and demanded a refund. We send out a team to assess the mattresses in case there were any faults and none were found.
While you may feel aggrieved that the company did not grant you a refund, we have fully comp**** within the CPA and our T&C’s as per our contract. In fact, we have gone further by exchanging your mattresses with which there were no faults, free of charge and for almost 6 months you did not raise any concerns in regards with the new mattress. In addition, we have sent a technical team to assess your mattresses and had a senior manager contact you.
We have thousands of customers sleeping on Adjust4Sleep adjustable beds and if the massage system or slats could be felt through our mattress, we would have regular complaints of such. While we regret that you aren’t satisfied with your purchase, as there is no fault with your mattress, we could not offer you the option of a refund. If we are able to assist any further, please do not hesitate to contact us.
