Misleading Marketing

On Saturday, 15 May 2021, I went to the Adidas store in Springfield, Durban. As I walked in, with my wife, we were informed by the welcome person at the door that all items at the front of the store were on special (buy 3 items at 50%). My attention was immediately drawn to the Manchester United shirt prominently displayed at the entrance of the store. I looked for the price and the only visible price was R699. This appeared like a bargain to me so I decided to buy 3. However, at the till point I was informed that the item was not on offer and only certain items were. The irony is that as the cashier was saying that, the store announcer repeated that all items at the front of the store was on special (again buy 3 at 50%). When I noticed that no amount of reasoning was going to change the minds of anyone in the store, I decided to pay what they informed me was a price after a 30 % discount. Again, the item itself had no price tag. The price (R699) was displayed at the front of the store on a little sign board. I opted to pay for 2, instead of the 3. The only reason I paid (what to me was full price) was because Adidas is my preferred brand and I am an avid Manchester United supporter.

However, I have to say that I am particularly displeased with the misleading marketing being practised at this store. In fact I regret giving the store a high rating when a store consulted asked me a few questions (when I was still shopping) pertaining to a survey.

I emailed *** and was told that they only handled online shopping queries. I was given an email address of Fadwa Adams whom I then emailed, and as of today I have received no response.
