False advertising

I visited the store at Northgate Shopping Center to my delight I saw that the All Blacks away rugby jersey had been marked down from R999.99 to R500.00 , thinking that this was a Black Friday special , I took a shirt in my size & proceeded to the pay-point , when the cashier had entered the sale , the original price appeared on the screen with no discount options, the sales attendant was bemused with me when I questioned the pricing for the shirt , at no point did he offer an apology or try make amends for the mishap that had occurred. As a customer I would have appreciated an apology then allow me to purchase the garment at the marked down price, according to TCF , the customer is king but yet he proceed to inform me that the sale only app**** to home jersey & that was that .
