Adidas Mall of Africa DELIBERATELY not adhering to Consumer Protection Act

I had an issue which I experienced at the Waterfall Adidas store (Mall of Africa) over the past weekend. I purchased an ****nal jersey in-store, taking it from the rack, fitting it, and completing the purchase. Upon returning home, I noticed that due to the cut of the jersey, it was far too large and did not fit as expected.

I returned to the Waterfall store last night to request an exchange. Instead of assisting me, the male store associate directed me on a wild goose chase to another store, claiming they had the size I required. However, this morning, the manager at the Woodmead store informed me that this information was false—they do not have the jersey in stock.

I returned to the Waterfall store today, only to be refused both an exchange and a refund. I was informed that the jersey had “marks on the neck” and therefore could not be exchanged. This is unreasonable, as it is standard practice for customers to try on jerseys before purchase, which inevitably results in minor marks. Additionally, I am aware that the XS size jersey is available online through the Adidas website.

I feel that the manner in which I was treated may have involved racial bias and that the service I received was not aligned with Adidas’ customer service standards.
