*********** Estate Agent. Lying.
I moved out of the apartment which I was renting through said Estate Agents on the 1st of August. I am still waiting for my deposit. The agent says that she refuses to refund my deposit because they have been unable to find a tenant. Why should them finding a tenant effect me being refunded my money.
I had an equally bad experience when i was tying to rent the property initially. As I had recently relocated from Johannesburg and I was staying in a guest house. I contacted the agent Namely, Stefanie Kliplinger from Accutts, (Spelling may vary slightly). She was very rude, she wouldn't return my calls despite me leaving various voice messages and sms's on her phone. I eventually got her to show me the property after i threatened to report her to the Estate Agents Board. She showed me the apartment and the day that we were supposed to do the inspection she left me with the tenant who was moving out and now she says that the landlord is not happy with the state of the condition of the apartment. Water floods into the apartment from the penthouse upstairs. Water seeps in through the walls in the study. Water gushes in through the window in the second bedroom. The place is damp despite the fact that I painted it the same colour when i moved in. You can actually see the damp coming in through the walls as a result I was permanently ill with the flu while I lived there. All the doors in the apartment swell and can not close, or are difficult to open from the inside once they are closed. I was locked in my room once and fortunately I managed to call a friend who had a spare key to the apartment . She had to leave her business to come and open the door for me. Had she not been there or had i not given her a spare key i probably would have died in there and no one would have been any the wiser. i also replaced the front door lock and informed the Landlord of all the faults. He promised to refund me for the lock and the money for calling out a Locksmith. I am still yet to see that money.
Thank you
