Thank you ACSA ‘A’ shift staff & Sgt Melanie Lubbe

My husband and I were horrified to find that our entire luggage trolley had gone missing while we were having coffee at the Mugg and Bean (CPT INT Airport) on 13 May (11:45am). Someone had literally walked away with our trolley. All our items were easily worth in excess of R30000 with some irreplaceable items. I was told by the waitron that it could have been taken by a tour group as they had walked off with a bunch of trolleys. The ACSA security staff had insisted that they could help if we looked at the CCTV footage and I should file a report at the police station. This gave me some hope. A couple of minutes later, SGT Melanie Lubbe had approached me at the international terminal and immediately sprung into action to investigate. She had asked me to take her to the place where our trolley was taken and asked for a full description of the bags taken. She took down my details and said she would contact me as soon as she had seen the CCTV footage. She worked with the ACSA security team, questioned the porters on duty and a few hours later had located the tour group and the vehicle that had ridden off with our luggage. We eventually got our luggage back from the tour company, with everything in-tact. Thank you to ACSA A Shift and SGT Lubbe for the professionalism and willingness to help, despite how trivial our lost luggage may have seemed. It is this kind of service and professionalism that makes me so proud to be South African, because no matter what people may say, we are a first class country with first class people! I have travelled all over the world and I have not experienced such amazing service and empathy from airport staff and the police service. The CCTV footage and efforts of ACSA staff and SGT Lubbe are truly commendable. I always thought that this kind of investigative efforts only existed in the movies! Thank you for proving me wrong!
