Dear Hellopeter,<br> <br> Please assist us spreading the word for us about our safety at the OR Tambo international airport under cover parking , all levels and at the parking pay points.<br> I guess I am not the only one concerned about this : <br> 1 there's are guys asking us money at the pay points and parking ( black guy age 50 plus, and some white short guy age30 plus ) we feel very intimidated and scared because we don't know what they up to or what they can do if you not giving them - the black guy always ask fior 9rands for parking that's his pick up line , always .<br> Yesterday in the evening (19h00) the guy was there . Reported him to the patrolling securities they mentioned that lots of people have complain but nothing gets done , even if they catch them , but the next day they are there .<br> The lady ( security ) even told me about roberies happening at the parking by guys driving big cars ( mentioned x5s) they sometime get caught but still come back - she even told me last week Wednesday a white gentleman was ****** 15 000rands by the same **** but the next day the very same guys were roaming around .<br> <br> We feel very unsafe and it's not fair we pay a lot of money for that parking

Thank you for contacting Airports Company South Africa Customer Care.
We are currently busy with the Magistrate in Kempton Park to detain these individuals found asking for money in our airport for longer and to keep photographic evidence of persons when caught for loitering. We work in conjunction with Bosasa, Security and the SAPS. When an beggar is identified, we arrest them. However as soon as they are released, they return, which is the problem we are faced with currently. Thus a better way forward is being discussed, which should hopefully ensure that repeat offenders get a longer sentence and that they are removed upon sight.
Our Security Management team has increased security presence in the mentioned parking and pay point areas.
If you do happen to see these individuals when next at the Airport you can also contact our Compliance office:
*** they will alert all officers on the ground and will address immediately.
