Poor sevice
I was seeing my son off at the airport and a I was denied a wheel chair OR assistance as I am physically disabled and recovering from a knee operation and had to walk with my crutches all the way from the parking area to the international departure area without any assistance due to the fact that I am not a passenger on any flight leaving from the airport. This is a total disgrace. I am physically impaired and disabled.

As ACSA we provide the facilities and infrastructure in which our various stakeholders operate within.
One of the reasons we do not avail wheelchairs is due to the fact that the airlines do provide a wheelchair assistance to passengers that require this service to assist in the facilitation of their travels, this is especially the case if they will not be taking their wheelchair on the flight with them. Disabled passengers travelling through our airport are offered the service free of charge from the airlines.
While we recognize that some shopping centres do avail wheelchairs to their visitors, an assumption is also made that anyone who has mobility impairments, and who is visiting the airport for purposes other than flying, would bring their own mobility aids and assistive devices.
We work closely with (QASA), and they are represented in our disability forum. This forum discusses various issues that affect people with mobility impairments, wheelchair availability being one of them.
Please also note we constantly review ways in which we can provide a better experience for our visitors
