OR Tambo parking mess!
To whom this may concern.
When I arrived Thursday morning at OR Thambo for my flight on Flysafair to Durban 04H04, all the normal roads towards the parking area’s were barricaded without ANY signs or personnel to direct you to open parking.
After myself and two other vehicles made a couple of U-turns trying to find our way to open parking, I decided to find someone to give us directions. NO ACSA personal were seen anywhere. The only assistance I received was by asking directions from a traffic police officer. He then said parking level two is open without really knowing how to direct me there, I just kept trying to find the parking having to make 3 more U-turns and twice having to reverse up a one way.
When I finally got to the parking onramp, ALL the indication boards were off! Parking lot 1’s booms were just wide open and I still did not know if I was at the correct parking. When I drove to level two the left hand boom was open and the right hand boom closed. I saw there was movement in this parking area and I decided to rather go through the boom which was closed to get a parking ticket. The parking was maybe 1% full and I felt comfortable this is the parking I was supposed to park in this unusual times we are in. Secondly, through experience with most of the shopping centres which stopped charging parking fees during this time and the parking being completely open, I felt reassured without receiving ANY assistance, I was at the correct place.
Going through the checkpoints I talked to 5 other passengers that agreed it was a mess to find parking and also not knowing whether they parked in the correct area.
When I returned two days later on Saturday morning, ACSA had the audacity to charge me R3 180.00 for parking!
I am requesting a full refund of my parking bill please. Your parking all over the airport is completely empty and a mess. This is ****************.
