No faith in ACSA and their baggage control!
I flew from OR Tambo to King Shaka 2 weeks ago with Kulula airlines.<br> <br> I had locks on my bags, my luggage shrink wrapped at OR Tambo & checked in 30 minutes before boarding gates opened.<br> Upon my arrival at King Shaka the shrink wrap was torn off my bag and my bag had been broken into. All my toiletries had been emptied and scattered all over. Several items had been ******!! The *******s rummaged through my clothes and it was a total mess!!<br> <br> This also happened previously when I flew from OR Tambo to Cape Town with Mango airlines.<br> <br> I'm convinced it has nothing to do with the airlines and everything to do with baggage control at the airport. I have no faith in ACSA since they do nothing about it regardless of all the complaints. <br> What a disgrace to South Africa to have an international airport with such poor controls!<br> <br> The zips on my bags are broken. I can't use my luggage. <br> It really dampens your spirit when u arrive at your holiday destination & u discover such things.<br> <br> Fix the problem or increase hand luggage space cos I refuse to check-in any luggage from now!!!<br> <br> For everyone else-don't bother shrink wrapping cos the *******s get in anyway! A total waste of money!!<br>
It is with regret that we note the incidents of theft from and damage to your luggage. Airports Company South Africa's core responsibility is the facilitation of passengers through the airport as well as infrastructure provision. It is regrettable that baggage pilferage happens at all and it is something we take very seriously as a community (airport authority, airlines, ground handling companies, the police etc.).
Under an Airport Security Programme (ASP), which is in line with civil aviation authority (CAA) regulations, in order for an airline to operate at our airports, they need to conform to the CAA approved ASP in the following regard;
-Legal Authority: The authority for security control of hold baggage is the responsibility of relevant airline on which aircraft passengers and their hold baggage are traveling.
-Protection of Hold Baggage: This is an airline responsibility and procedures are detailed in the air carrier's security program
Please report this to Kulula Airlines for claim handling, in line with their conditions of carriage.
