King Shaka International Airport
DISGUSTING SERVICE
I would give you no stars if it was allowed!
What A horrific and traumatising experience I had. On the 12th of October 2020 I encountered rude, obnoxious and discriminatory staff at King Shaka Airport. The first issue occurred before we even entered the airport doors, where we were made to stand in an ever growing line outside the Airport, the elderly and disabled included. While there were only two staff members at the screening station, who are rude and extremely slow and not helpful at all, at one point the attitude was so bad I thought her father might on the airport. No regard for anyone we were all standing in the cold waiting for your staff to show us how customer services DOES NOT WORK.
The worst was yet to come when we got to your boarding gates, first issues I saw was the boarding gate security makes you take off your belts and watches for a DOMESTIC flight, which I found strange because when we departed OR Tambo a few days earlier all passengers were allowed to keep on their belts and watches, so is King Shaka allowing their staff to make up their own rules as they see fit? Hold onto your seats folks because it gets worse….. My husband gets called out for his bag, the security lady or whatever the hell her position is, digs in his bag and pulls out 2 lighters, with disrespect and aggression in her voice she starts shouting and says “you are not allowed 2 lighters and they need to be on your pocket” before she could continue with her interrogations, I stopped her and said please give me one, I am him I will take it, she looks at me with disgust and says “no its his” I looked at her and said “I am his wife” and put out my hand gesturing her to hand over the lighter, she looks at my husband up and down, with absolute disgust and then she looks back at me, and with no sense of care, she burst out laughing in my face with her arrogant shrug and hands me the lighter. Do you employee staff to discriminate against your passengers? I felt violated and angry and disgusted that I am standing in an international airport being discriminated and treated like a second class human being. Your airport might aesthetically look good, but you are employing staff that carry on worse than what I would receive Bree Taxi Rank in JHB. I am in to minds to actually open a case of ************** against this airport. And just to make a point again, the same 2 lighters yours *********** staff stopped my husband for is the same two lighters he took through O R Tambo boarding gates, again I ask, DO YOU ALLOW YOUR STAFF TO MAKE RULES UP AS THEY GO???????????????????????????????
I am a frequent domestic flyer and in the past have only received good service at South African Airports, but because of this experience I have decided to delay any future visits to KZN as not to have to willfully be abused by King Shaka staff again, and if I do need to travel I would rather get on a unicycle cycle all the there.
I beg you all reading this, if you can avoid King Shaka Airport do so at all costs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
