Items ****** out of my luggage!
I flew from Johannesburg to Mozambique about a month ago and made sure my bag was wrapped and secured with two locks, two days before this i had just arrived back from a months holiday in Europe and had been carrying gifts and sentimental items in my luggage and nothing had been taken.<br> <br> The flight arrives in Mozambique and i immediately see as my bag comes off the plane that the wrapping has been taken off and my locks broken, I reported the incident to security then proceeded to email SAA Airlinks about this and submit my claim.<br> Not only has the attitude from SAA been sadly lacking but SAA likes to hide behind a million clauses ect that have nothing to do with me and do nothing to help their clients.<br> They confirm that they KNOW that the staff ***** and they do nothing about it and then deny my tiny claim after waiting over a month and half without my things.<br> I had 2 brand new boxes of shoes, Irreplaceable jewellery, Chocolate, Perfumes and other items ****** while entrusting OR Tambo and SAA Airlink would look after my luggage. It is a ******** offense to ***** yet Airlink cannot tell me who is responsible for the theft. Absolute disgrace that this is how theft gets handled!

Airports Company South Africa's core responsibility is the facilitation of passengers through the airport as well as infrastructure provision. It is regrettable that baggage pilferage happens at all and it is something we take very seriously as a community (airport authority, airlines, ground handling companies, the police etc.). It is also something that we work on continuously with all stakeholders.
Under an Airport Security Programme (ASP), which is in line with civil aviation authority (CAA) regulations, in order for an airline to operate at our airports, they need to conforms to the CAA approved ASP in the following regard;
-Legal Authority: The authority for security control of hold baggage is the responsibility of relevant airline on which aircraft passengers and their hold baggage are traveling.
-Protection of Hold Baggage: This is an airline responsibility and procedures are detailed in the air carrier's security program
Please report this to the airline- SA Airlink for claim handling, in line with their conditions of carriage.
