Airport Parkade 2 rates overcharge

On the 22th June 2023, I had a 06:00 flight to Cape Town and returned back to JNB the same day at 18:10.

The day before my flight, I browsed the OR-Tambo website and found that I can park my vehicle at Parkade 2 South. As per their website the expected fee I would pay is R195 for 12 hours which I am comfortable with.

On the day of my flight. I entered Parkade 2 South and did not enter Level as it was for either Drop-off/e-hailing (can’t remember). Hence I entered Level 2 and parked there.

Once I returned back and was ready to pay for my parking ticket, was I surprised to see that I need to pay R720.00 for the time spent (Just over 12 hours). I assumed it would’ve been around R250.00

Unfortunately I had to pay that amount and said I will contact the Airport Centre the next day during working hours.

On the 23th of June 2023 I called the number ***, spoke to a lady (can’t remember who) and she transferred me to a another lady by the name of Naledi to which I explained my story. This lady Naledi said that I got wrong information from “google” and was not suppose to use a website to get info and that I must rather download the airport “app” which they work with.

I repeatedly said that she can’t blame google for this issue and cannot say she does not know anything regarding an airport website and that they dont use a website. She repeatedly referred me to that wonderful app and that I wasn’t suppose to park in level 2 but rather level 3 or 4. I advised that the website only had 1 table of rates and not different rates for different levels, otherwise I would never park in a place where I would pay R720.00 for 12 hours

Her only response was that the airport does NOT use a website and whatever website I was browsing is incorrect and I was only suppose to trust the information from that wonderful app.

If she is correct, how can ACSA allow the website to still be in use, IF they don’t use the website and IF the information on the site is INCORRECT.
