ACSA Zero stars

If I could rate 0 zero stars I would!! See below correspondence to Airports Company South Africa via their review portal, X and email.

On X….

@ortambo_int @Airports_ZA

1 week later and no response to this on your review portal and I ticked the box for a supervisor to contact me too. Great customer service…NOT!

>My samsonite luggage was locked and was wrapped in a neoprene luggage glove that was also locked. On arrival in Mauritius my luggage was fully opened and items ****** and the damaged luggage glove that was now slashed and unusable was closed back up in my suitcase. My luggage cannot lock as it was forced open. Upon reporting to Mauritius damaged baggage they said they get a …minimum THREE damaged bags out of ORT with each flight and mainly its designer goods and perfume that is ******. That is a shocking statistic and is disgusting behavior perpetrated by baggage handlers at ORT/ACSA. The baggage person said they even slash plastic and shove it back in the luggage after *****ing stuff to maintain the weight. I am SO disappointed in ORT/ACSA that you employ people who feel it is their right to damage and ***** from travellers that have no option other than yours to travel by. We obviously mean nothing to you as you ***** and damage our belongings. Why are there no cameras in the baggage areas? I’ve heard it’s because of your unions not allowing it which means they are complicit. Please contact me on *** or email ***

Thank you<

I finally got a response with an email to send details and photos which we duly did and this was their response……

>Good day, Thank you for contacting Airports Company South Africa O.R. Tambo International Airport's Client and Passenger Services. We are sorry to hear about your recent experience at our airport. We understand how frustrating it is to serve with a service that does not meet your expectations. Please note that while ACSA provides and maintains the baggage systems and infrastructure, it is the airlines and their appointed ground handling companies who have direct access to and responsibility for passenger luggage. Under normal circumstances, only these entities handle baggage during travel. We kindly advise that you direct your query to the airline you travelled which is Air Mauritius, kindly contact them on *** *** or handling agent on ***, with so they may investigate the matter accordingly. Once again, we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused. This is not the experience we strive to deliver to our valued airport users. We pride ourselves on providing excellent service, and it is deeply disappointing to learn that a passenger has had an unsatisfactory experience. Thank you Warm regards, Passenger Services<

I fail to understand why the customer should have to contact the service providers YOU employed in YOUR establishment when they destroy and ***** YOUR customer’s belongings. Accountability ends with you but it seems you prefer to back the thieving individuals employed by your contractors. You refuse to put up cameras and prosecute those responsible, but pass the buck to your customer. If there was another way to fly out of SA, trust me, I would switch and advise everyone I know to do the same. Zero accountability-zero stars.
