ACSA violating a woman's rights !
Good morning
On Thursday evening, 19 October I was ready to go through security checkpoint to board my flight to Cape Town departing at 19:55 Airlink 4Z 607. from Bram Fischer Airport in Bloemfontein. I asked the gentlemen assisting the passengers with the placing laptops etc in the containers to be scanned, if I should remove my belt as I know it does sometimes cause an issue. He said it was not needed. I walked through the scanner and it beeped. I was pulled aside by a large lady (the only one on duty at 19:00 with another gentlemen) and she asked me to lift my arms and she proceed to RUB HER HANDS ALL OVER MY BODY – under my armpits, between my legs, between my breasts, down the back of my legs and buttocks. I tried to stop her. I told her it was my probably my belt and I would remove it. I told her to stop again as it was in plain view of all the people passing by – she laughed and spoke to her colleague and IGNORED ME.
I felt violated and totally helpless. I felt dirty. I left my luggage at the seating area and went back to request to speak to the person in charge. I was told to talk to Andres Mokhuwane - as I approached him the lady who had ‘frisked’ me also approached me – she knew what she had done was wrong because the moment I started to speak she said I did not touch your breast only in between. Now I don’t know her gender preference, nor do I care, but what happened there was TOTALLY unacceptable.
Mr Mokhuwane said that I should have asked for gloves - is the man mad or from another century. You do not do that. The lady at the gate saw I was upset and said that what had happened was not allowed – they must use the metal detector. and I must complain to ACSA. Well I will have better chance of making contact with the Pope. The general manager of Bram Fischer does not take calls - I tried to reach him or her but was stalled at reception - now we can see why the airport is in the state it is.
So this morning I tried to reach the general manager of the airport but the response showed me that if this is how the General manager is managing his calls, I can understand why the airport is run this way.
Just to let you know this is all been placed on various social media platforms and I am also sending to our local media. IT WAS TOTAL UNACCEPTABLE – I felt violated and I will NOT LEAVE it there.
