The security is variable at domestic airports.. I flew from durban to joburg and joburg to kimberley. I did not unpacked my backpack. I had a one night lay over. I had a bread knife at the bottom of my bag that I must have left in the bag ages ago. The first airport did not blink an eye.. The second airport was so rude when wanting to search my bag. I travel often so I have had a bit of experience with security and understand security needs to do their job. I did not expect the blunt rudeness. The security unpacked my bag right at the end of the conveyor belt while bags were still coming through and when I suggested we move a bit over to get out of everyone's way she lifted her head and just stared at me. I repeated myself and she just ignored me again. Bags were still being sent through and people were hanging over the glass to try pick up their belongings. It looked like vultures at a ****. When the security got the knife she pushed my bag and contents over and allowed the other bags to come through without staying a word. Sometime you can not teach initiative. Manners are a new premium in South Africa. It was not a cultural, racial or ***ist experience. To was a pure client-employee relationship and ACSA failed. If South African business wants to complete with the world they will need to start at roots with customer care and screen their employees repeated. This attitude should not be tolerated
