ACSA Parking OR Tambo Airport

Let me start by saying ACSA - SHAME ON YOU!!!!!!

I wish to review the **** style enforcement of parking rules at the OR Tambo airport. Like many other people I had to pick up a passenger at the airport (20 April 2023). Upon his arrival he learnt that he had the wrong suitcase. He went back to seek his suitcase.

During this period, I moved my vehicle to a different spot where I waited for him. I got out of my vehicle for a very short period to go inside the terminal. As I returned my car was clamped. Apparently, this is the rule if you leave your vehicle which I find very disturbing when you explore the ACSA website - no mention is made of this aspect, nor any reference to any fine and the way it is dealt with. The way it is dealt with is through a process to inconvenience and bully people like me. There are no signs indicating the process and finding somebody to assist is a nightmare. I believe that this is a tactic that ACSA employs. When you do find somebody, they are aggressive and in my case I was severely threatened by the serving metro police that they will impound my vehicle. In addition, the so-called guardians are rude and seriously disrespectful. When I was eventually assisted, I was referred to a pay office where I had to pay cash. Cash, this seems like a *****ulent like way to further punish people like me. And at that, R2000 (no cards allowed). During this whole process no official boards or documentation and/or guidance is provided. Once paid you are then required to produce a receipt of sorts to the so-called guardians. Of course, this takes time as they are simply not available. When found rude, abusive and again threatening. ACSA SHAME ON YOU!!!!!!!!!!!

I reported this to the Jabulani Khambule, the Regional General Manager – O R Tambo International Airport (e-mail ***) who provided me with a less than satisfactory answer that the airport is a national key point and other non sensical information. Pity they don't investigate the conduct of their guardians and the metro police who try and solicit bribes from people like me. Again ACSA, SHAME ON YOU!!!!!

I conclude that the way in which people are treated at the airport in terms of parking are shameful, disrespectful, abusive, *****ulent, unprofessional and not what I believe ACSA should stand for. I also believe that the way they are misusing their power is outside the scope of any legal framework. I appeal to all people who are bul****, threatened, and treated in this manner to report, report, report so that we can bring them to justice.
