Incident Statement: Injury at Ackermans Store

On 05/05/2026 , my mother visited the Ackermans store located in Willowbrooke square in Delmas. During her visit, she was walking inside the store as a normal customer when she encountered an unsafe and hazardous condition.

There were boxes left on the floor in the customer walkway while the store was open and operating. These boxes were not properly removed, secured, or marked to warn customers of any danger. As a result of this negligence, my mother tripped over the boxes and fell.

The fall caused serious injuries, including a broken leg and a broken arm. She had to receive medical treatment and incurred hospital expenses due to the severity of her injuries. This incident has also caused her significant pain, suffering, and disruption to her daily life.

At the time of the incident, the store had a responsibility to ensure that the shopping environment was safe for customers. Leaving obstacles such as boxes in walkways where customers are expected to move freely is a clear failure to uphold basic safety standards.

After the incident, we attempted to follow up with the store regarding the matter. However, the response has been inadequate. We were informed that the store cameras were not working, which raises further concerns about accountability and proper store management. Despite reporting the incident, we have not received proper feedback, assistance, or resolution.

We believe that this incident was caused by negligence on the part of the store, as the hazardous condition directly led to my mother’s injuries. We are seeking accountability, proper investigation of the incident, and compensation for the medical costs and damages suffered.

We request that this matter be taken seriously and addressed urgently.
