Disregarding Consumer Protection Laws
I recently bought two (2) phones from the ACKERMANS Silverton Crossing branch as gifts for my two children. However they weren’t happy with the phones I bought for them. I then duly returned to the store with the children in tow, to choose the phones of their own liking. The Store Manager (Caroline) however had other ideas and put a stick to it, by simply sending a message from her office, in a very undiplomatic manner. Her messages was to the effect that; “She doesn’t exchange phones which are not broken; regardless of any other conditions, whatsoever” The embarrassment we felt was completely painful. I felt so aggrieved, as her conduct is very unbecoming of a Store Manager and this flies squarely in the face of the Consumer Protection Act. I find this conduct totally ridiculous. I therefore beg the questions, (1) What message are they communicating to the middle to lower income target markets, which makes-up the bulk of their customers (Whom are predominantly non-white)? (2) Whether they are profit driven or Customer Service driven? I’m profoundly disappointed with this bad service, as this is a Customer Service and Consumer Rights-issue, which you don’t get in stores who care for their clientele. I need Ackermans Senior Management to remedy this situation in the interest of fair and equal customer service.
