Complaint

On 08 April 2025 I was in the Ackerman's store at Horizon View shopping centre. I purchased a set of three pairs of underwear for R159.99 . Nowhere on the packaging did it show the composition of the fabric used. Arriving home I took the packaging of to find the following printed on the inside of the elastic band: Made in China, 52% Nylon, 40% Polyester, 8% Spandex. Had I known this I would Not have bought the items as I have a skin allergy to any sinthetic material touching my skin as I break out in hives. The following day I returned the items only to be told that they do not exchange/ refund underwear which is according to policy and is printed on the back of the till slip .The manager, Nomfundo, even got the customer service on the line for me only to be told the same thing about company policy. I told them that I am a Sassa pensioner and could not just throw R160.00 down the drain. I do understand their viewpoint, for hygiene reasons, however I feel that not enough was done in order to make the customer aware of this. Nothing is stipulated on the packaging, no sign on the rack nor at the tills advising of the no return policy. The cashier could also have pointed the fact out before ringing the items up. No one in their right mind would wear synthetic underwear as it does not absorb any perspiration.
