On 21 August 2025, I went to the Ackermans store at Chris Hani Vosloorus to pay my monthly account instalment. While I was standing at the cashier till, I received an SMS notification for a purchase of R2449.70 for unknown item . The SMS came less than 20 seconds before I completed my payment.
Before I made my payment, the cashier handled my card and I strongly suspect that my card was swapped during the transaction. Immediately after receiving the SMS, I confronted the cashier and she appeared to panic. I noticed box under the cashier table.
The cashier then took my cellphone and mysterious box with the pair of shoes to the store manager. When she returned with the manager, he asked whether I share my account card with anyone else, claiming that I had just purchased a cellphone.
However,I ask for receipt but the manager was unable to reprint a receipt for the transaction. I was also informed that the CCTV cameras were not working at that time due to a technical problem. Customer care later confirmed that the transaction went through on my account.
I reported the matter and submitted a dispute to Tenacity. It has now been almost 7 months since I opened the dispute. I was informed that Tenacity emailed the store manager requesting a statement and a copy of the receipt from that day, but they have not received any response.
I am extremely unhappy with how this matter has been handled. I believe there may have been *****ulent activity involving employees at the store, and the lack of cooperation from the store management raises serious concerns.
I request that Ackermans urgently investigate this matter, provide the transaction documentation, and confirm the termination of my account. I also request urgent feedback and a proper resolution to this matter.
