Ackermans's new hire exploitation

I'd like to bring to attention the treatment of what Ackermans calls P27s at the South Gate branch in Johannesburg. A young relative was recently taken in as one of the P27s, these are shop "assistants" that work 27 hrs a week. The youngster was given a contract stipulating an hourly rate of R33,21, nine hours a day for 3 days a week. No mention of training hourly rates was made.

The first payment worked out to be at a rate of R21,33 for the three midweek days, neither explanation nor payslip was given. Then the youngster was again called in for one weekday and a Sunday. When next reporting to work, they were informed there won't be a payout for the worked midweek hours(9), nor the Sunday hours worked(7). The reason: the contract was erroneous, and the system rejected every P27, no payment could be effected. So, how were the initial payments effected? On the day when the above disclosure was made, a new "correct" contract was presented for signing, no copy of this new contract was given to the "P27s" for future reference, the new rate, below R26/h and 5 days to be worked per week.

It is disappointing that a retailer of Ackermans stature can be exploiting people in this manner, faulty contracts, no payslips, unexplained salary cuts, none-payment of worked time that includes Sunday work.

May Ackermans management please address this seeming blemish tarnishing Ackermans name happening under their watch.

Regards
