Disappointing Experience with AC Direct: Incompatible Units and Poor Customer Service

I recently purchased eight outdoor air conditioning units from AC Direct, spending R83,000, with the expectation that they would be compatible with my existing indoor units. I specifically emailed AC Direct to confirm compatibility, and they assured me that the chosen model’s outdoor units (four 18,000 BTU and four 24,000 BTU) would work seamlessly. However, while the 18,000 BTU units were a direct swap and functioned as expected, the 24,000 BTU units were not compatible, despite AC Direct’s claims.

When I contacted AC Direct for support, they offered no apology for their error and instead suggested swapping wires in the outdoor units to make them work, noting that this could void the warranty. This unprofessional response left me to resolve the issue myself by purchasing additional contact switches and wiring them into the system, incurring extra costs and effort. Additionally, one of the delivered units arrived severely damaged due to being dropped, though AC Direct did replace it the next day.

The lack of accountability, poor customer service, and misleading advice have left me deeply dissatisfied. I strongly advise against purchasing from AC Direct due to their unreliable product recommendations and inadequate support.
