Stay Away from this company

Due to recent storms, we needed to replace the old carport. After many estimates, we settled with this company, which had good reviews and decent pricing. The owner is Ralph and his 'right - hand' guy is Anthony, and a team of 3 others. One of the key factors in using this company was that when I spoke to Ralph and Anthony during the inspection for the estimate, Ralph assured me that they accepted monthly payments. It was going to be a 2 day job, starting on Friday. So we agreed, and they arrived at 8:45 Friday morning, 19th July. Ralph then informed us that he and Anthony needed to pick up the material, while the other 3 members would disassemble the old carport. He also stated that as it was Friday the supplier would close early. We had no problems with this. By 11:30, the old carport was completely gone but no sign of the boss. Ralph and Anthony arrived at 12:45, with the materials and lunch for the guys. While Ralph went to deliver someone else's materials, the team had their lunch. When Ralph returned around 2:30pm, he said they would have to finish the work that day, as other clients were waiting for them. Again we had no problems this, as long as the job was done well and not rushed and messed up! Towards the evening around 6pm, we noticed something had changed. It was getting dark and everyone was just rushing and trying to finish up. But they were far from being complete. Then Ralph asked me when can I make the payment. I assumed he was referring to the EFT and told him it should have cleared by then. To which he rep**** that he "desperately" needed me to make the balance payment. I reminded him that we spoke about monthly payments and we could not pay the balance right away. To this his reply was they would only complete the job when I paid the balance. At this point, we had a carport with no gutter, nothing was sealed and we couldn't see if there were any problems; as the light was removed. Ralph and Anthony kept speaking about other clients who haven't paid payment, and they couldn't pay the workers etc. At this point, I realized we were duped. They both repeatedly told us they would only complete the job once the balance was paid. Backed into a corner, we agreed and insisted they come on Saturday and complete the job. This morning when we could actually see the carport in the sunlight, we were speechless and angry. When drilling to attach the first beam, they tried to drill a hole into a concrete air vent, and when they couldn't, they used only one bolt instead of three. The yard had pieces of metal fillings everywhere, there was mixed concrete remanents, and two of the four beams didn't lock with the supporting bars. The makeshift gutter was falling. You could see daylight between the house wall and the side box. They did finally arrive to complete the job, as payment was done in full.

Take it from me this company is not worth it. Ralph has a lot to say about their previous jobs, clients and basically brags. He isn't around to actually see the workmanship of his team, but will yell at them when he does decide to show up; just because he feels like it. He expects Anthony to supervise, but he's non the better. If you want quality workmanship and peace of mind DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!
