Absolut Auto Northcliff
In January 2019 we purchased a vehicle from Absolut Auto from Francois The salesman. Well as you expect when you are a budding buyer the salesman are so very keen and interested to assist you. Nonetheless we proceeded with the purchase and were assured of certain promises…and all downhill from there.
You can only tell so much from a vehicle from test driving and viewing but when you actually have it for a period of time there are other bits and bobs that creep up that are latent and as a customer would expect to be sorted out. Even the mechanic and workshop they sent the vehicle to made mention of these issues and what needed to be sorted out. Well most dealerships would certainly help out in my experience but not Absolut Auto. They will find any way to not help you once you have bought and walked out of their doors. The very next day we noticed issues with the canopy, the window, the radio and the handling and well the list does go on. We contacted the salesman immediately and got the salesman babble. We were assured it would get sorted out, so we waited and followed up more than 10 times via calls, WhatsApp, email and even trying to physically go to the dealership with the same bureaucratic response. Eventually we tried the sales manager, Riel, who dodged and dived better than a politician. It later was realised my partner had bought a car from this very same sales manager some years back and also had issues. Again, he didn’t help out whatsoever. Eventually we offered them a compromise to try and have the issues resolved but didn’t even get an acknowledgment. So we escalated the matter to Wesbank. Wesbank supposedly met with them and called them and bla bla bla but well basically Wesbank was equally useless in assisting with this matter. So the next step was the ombudsman which went smoothly and was quick to lodge and showed great potential. I spoke to early, the ombudsman hasn’t come back to me in nearly 2 months, even after numerous follow ups. So finally I spoke with my lawyer and we have a way forward but unfortunately it mean for the short terms we are out of pocket R50 000. Just to think, had they simply connected the radio, fixed a wire so the window worked and considered our compromised offer we would have probably let it be but now with their lack of customer service, concern and the blatant disregard they show its going to become a much bigger issue. I will never buy a vehicle from them again and more specifically from either the salesman or sales manager that were involved in this deal.
P.s Absolut Auto, would you mind giving us the spare key you promised us in writing nearly 6 months ago?
