You customers services personal Bongani Vilakazi is the reason I won't bank with ABSA again
I visited ABSA in Birch Acres Mall today - this was the 3rd time in 3 consecutive days I had to find myself at that branch because I had issues with my Cellphone banking app.
I won't complain about the first 2 days. On both day I was helped by phakiso, who was Very helpful. In fact even went the extra for my when my Phone's battery died by charging for me.
Day 3 I was helped or was supposed to be helped by a guy named Bongani Vilakazi, but Bongani was rude from the get go.
So upon speaking to Bongani informed him that there's a error message the appears when I try log on to my AOL. After a couple of minutes of arguing with me about my Banking app & AOL while checking on the system, in a condescending tone he told me, that I have " blocked my AOL password, even rudely humiliating me in front of other customers claiming I had "wasted" 2 hours or "their" time on the previous day with the same app issues.
Firstly I made no communication with him what so ever the previous day (Wednesday 15 April), he only saw me because I was being helped by his colleague Phankiso who... Which with Phakiso I received top notch service, he understood that I was failing to receive the security code required rest my banking app because there was not enough network coverage - in fact he even me how to proceed once I had gotten the message.
The humiliation I got carried on to the point that Bongani even went as far as accusing me of blocking me password again, the very password I had just set about 2 minutes prior at the Online banking area.
I tried telling him that my passcode is not blocked. But was show me a error message "No accounts registered", to embarrassing & humiliate me even more.
His words were "once in done with this customers I'll check if you really haven't blocked your passcode again, but this is the last time I'm checking it, I'm not here to play, I have more serious customers to attend to, your can't come here two days in a row to play and waste our time"....
I left the customers service areas went straight to the branch manager's office told he what had transpired, I even saw her that the passcode was not blocked and the error message was not a result of my actions. Atleast I was able to get help from the manager who now had to perform the role of a customer service rep because he felt I was wasting his time, as I not a "serious" customer.
After the kind of customer service or lack of that I received from Bongani who apparently doesn't even work at Birch Acres but rather was there to help. I can confidently say I will I will be leaving ABSA as a client I will not bank with the Bank again
