Why don't you believe me ?

I have been an account holder since 1983. Last year I took early retirement due to bad health. I managed to sell my house and have moved into a retirement home . All my mail was sent to my P O Box number , all except any mail from Absa ,so that I could have proof of residence . I now want to change my physical address with Absa .Hoo boy. Foolish me, I went into an Absa branch and advised I wanted to change my address ,and I was told it would take up to half an hour as there are 3 different forms to complete and get onto the system. I was told I would need my ID and would have to provide proof of residence . This is where we started to go round in circles. I explained that my Absa statement had always been my proof of residence when needed and that I did not have any other proof, explaining that I was now in a retirement home. They said well surely I must get a statement every month. I do, my levy statement. So I agreed to take that in. Then when I went in ( to my main branch ) and all the red tape stepped up a notch. My levy statement gives my name and my address there. I was told this was not suficient and that I would need an affidavit from the retirement home confirming I live there...Hello ..how do you think I have a levy statemnt..or get somebody in charge from the retirement home to come in with me. There is no way in hell I will be able to get somebody frm the head office to go with me just to confirm oh yes ,she is a resident. I worked for Absa years ago and in those days clients would go the the enquiries counter, fill in a change of address card , sign and date it and Bob's your uncle. All this interrogation now and having to prove where I live ...oh my word. I guess its just easier to discuss with the person who bought my house and make an arrangement to collect any Absa mail once a month. ...Very disappointed
