Why am I banking with ABSA?
Hey
I sent this email to ABSA on the 8 April 2021.
"Okay
Got an email saying I would be contacted by the 8th of April, it's the 8th no contact.
Some considerations of your service:
my card expired in September of 2020 and I have sent several emails asking for contact, from before the expiration date, and received nothing.
I have had issues with my online banking and was sent a number to contact. When I use that number it tells me it isn't working due to COVID.
I have received automated voice messages offering me a premium account. I must be a highly valued customer who you wish to keep to receive an automated voice message.
My friends have left ABSA and are paying less of a monthly fee for better service.
I looked up your credit card offerings in January. Since, I have recieved emails telling me to complete my application but no one has called me.
I wanted to consolidate my debt into my bond just to save some money and it's good financial practice, but ABSA refuses.
So my questions are:
Why am I paying you to be my bank?
Your service has gone from bad to worse with COVID, why am I paying the same monthly amount for it?
I am emailing the wrong department and the person reading this hasn't read this far, this email will not be passed along to the anyone who will be able to help me or affect any change in ABSA. Does anyone care about your service or your customers?
ABSA is hemorrhaging market share, does ABSA understand why?
Now that Capitec is doing Mortgage Loans why am I with ABSA?
I am your target market, my Household income is in the top 10% of income, my friends are about the same or above. All have left ABSA, are leaving ABSA or considering their options. What is ABSA offering, and that I can't get from another bank that does it better and/or cheaper?
Thanks"
You'll never guess what happened, no complaint lodged, no call back, no effort made what so ever. I was told I would be contacted it's a week or two weeks. Sent an email on the 27 April 2021 no contact.
Now I needed my savings from my credit card which was closed in September 2020. I had received no information on what had happened to the card. What my bank account was nothing.
I called on 20 May 2021, I the was put through to the complaint department. Explained my complaint and that I needed my savings from the account. I was told no complaint was lodged and because of that I would have to wait three days for someone to contact me. Told them I can't wait that long I need to speak to someone before the 24th. Was told the best they can do is 3 days. So to give you an Idea I have been waiting for 8 months and 20 days to resolve this. But obviously that's not an issue because computer says I haven't, because none of the people I previously contacted lodged it as a complaint. Don't forget that's what I said would happen in the email.
I go to the branch and sort it out myself by the afternoon of the 21st.
Someone contacts me from the complaints department, pretty sure it wasn't 3 days later. I ask them to explain to me why I am with ABSA. I fact tell them that I'm pretty sure I am still with their bank because I am an idiot.
I was told I would be contacted by a supervisor, was contacted later that afternoon by the same person to find out if their supervisor had contacted me, they hadn't. A few days after that I was contacted by the same person again to find out if the supervisor had contacted me. Still no.
So if they contacted me 3 days later. I have been waiting for a month and 3 days to be contacted by the supervisor.
Would you pay ABSA to be your bank?
