Why ABSA is a TERRIBLE BANK.

Last week I was sent a Cashsend from a friend. And it has gone downhill and then underground from there. Not only did I not get the withdrawal number that I need to withdraw the money, but as part of the process, I was forced to sign up for an ABSA product called Chatwallet which I did not want to do or have.

After signing up for it, I still did not get my money and to this day (more than a week later) I am still waiting for a withdrawal number.

I was contacted by an ABSA employee who told me a variety of stories including that no cashsend was sent to me EVEN THOUGH ABSA SENT ME A NOTIFICATION TELLING ME THAT ONE WAS SENT. So the entire interaction was less than helpful as it ended with "please go into the branch and have them assist you.

So to investigate the matter, I went to the branch not once but twice. The first time - after signing up for Chatwallet only to find my balance in there was R0.00 - to be told that once you sign up for this ABSA product that YOU ARE FORCED TO SIGN UP FOR, that it takes 24 hours to register and update all balances. The second time I went to the branch, not only was i frustrated about the situation, but nobody in the branch actually knows what the hell is going on either. So I still did not get my money or any helpful advice about how to proceed other that "please ask the sender to visit a branch to sort this out".

At this point, I am frustrated with the process, and now the sender has to be inconvenienced by this service that is supposed to convenience him. This Cashsend process was 'updated' 1- for no reason, 2- With seemingly no input from the public and 3- without training the staff about how it works and how to advise customers like myself who are now victim to it.

That is why ABSA is a TERRIBLE BANK!
