When #Africanacity becomes Inconvenience
So much for your Motto "Africanacity" which to some extend means getting things simpler and faster, it's actually the opposite and I will tell you why.
Absa has recently changed their Platinum Cheque Cards and replaced them with Debit Cheque Card which has limited functionality in terms of payment facilities depending where you are and the type of transaction you want to process. Like, you cannot use this ****** Card to pay for Toll Fees as the merchant rejects it as a Debit Card and the machine only accept either Cheque or Credit Card apart from your normal Garage/Fleet Cards. I have been turned back multiple times and at different toll gates because of the inconvenience of this Debit Cheque Card as I'm one of those people who don't go around carry cash whether big or small and rely on the functionality that comes with carrying an effective and efficient bank card which is not the case with this Debit Cheque Card. I have even informed Client Manager at my branch to do something about this inconvenience hoping that something will be done but to no avail. When you ask consultants why the debit card, the lousy excuse is that it is much safer than a Cheque card which has many avenues for petty thefts which is so damn lame.
What Absa should have done was to give their clients an option to choose between the Debit Cheque Card and a Cheque Card instead of deciding what's best for the clients as no two Sam's are the same, period!!!
The other way is to include a Garage Card for those who are using these useless Debit Cheque Card as part of their Platinum Cheque Card Package and avoid these embarrassing moments when one is going on with his/her life. I am even planning to move my account to another bank if I don't get joy by end of October 2020 as I pay for convenience and I expect real time convenience as and when I need it Klaar...
Do something about this inconvenience before many clients walk away from #Africanacity
