WARNING ON ABSA Home Loan + Building Insurance

I app**** for a home loan with ABSA and they sent out an Assessor to inspect the house before approving the loan. I was FORCED to take Building Insurance with ABSA.<br> <br> Now a year after the purchase the garage roof started collapsing. I phoned ABSA and they arranged for an Assessor to come out. It took them 2 weeks to send someone out and then turned down the claim because the roof was built wrong. My argument was that the Assessor was here to inspect the house before approving the loan and now ABSA does not want to take responsibility, which means I have to pay for the roof repairs out of my own pocket.<br> <br> It is impossible that the Assessor would not have seen this issue if he was actually at the premises because there was no ceilings in the garage, so you could see the trusses and see that is was build wrong with no supports and no the trusses too far apart and the pitch of the roof was about 10 to 11deg. I had to get the pallet wall built about 1.1 meter to the the pitch to about 17 to 18deg.<br> <br> I was told to try and approach this with the ombudsman and to look at the consumer protection act. I will take this up with them as see what happens.
