VMSA credit facility terms breach

After calling their customer care line, I was told I will not be issued a new credit card (current one has expired) due to VMSA terminating their partnership with ABSA. Is it fair that i continue to be charged interest for a credit facility I can no longer use? I will no longer be making payment towards my balance.
