Visa card not working overseas and no assistance r

In April I opened and affinity account with ABSA with the intention of using the card overseas , the card worked well in SA , as I used it at the ATM to transfer funds for home loan to the card.<br> When I arrived in Australia at the end of April I tried using the card and it would not allow any withdrawals , nor was I able to purchase anything with the card.I was however charged R11 service fee for the month even though no transactions were allowed on the card.<br> I have sent numerous mails to ABSA during the past month and have been promised responses, and the best they can do is ask me to get a power of attorney and have a friend go to the bank and ask for a replacement card.<br> This is not possible , nor do I feel comfortable doing this .I opened an account which worked well in SA and does not work in Australia , so how does the bank think this is my problem to resolve.I have asked for internet access so that I can at least transfer the funds back into my home loan if they cannot assist with getting the card to work , but no luck there either.
