Vehicle Finance Insurance deducted without consent
After 3 years of paying my vehicle finance at ABSA without missing a payment, I was deducted R1,400.00 extra on my monthly debit order. After querying the debit order I was informed this is for insurance. When I got hold of ABSA Insurance, I was told they do random checks to confirm that there is insurance on the vehicle and request proof of this existing insurance.

When I told the woman no one had contacted me or gotten any approval from me, she read out my old cellphone number (Which I had changed many moons ago inside ABSA and they did nothing about it seems) and said if they don't receive proof they automatically add the insurance.

I was told if I provide proof, my money can be refunded within 5-7 working days. My FNB account has gone in to arrears because of this and now I have to wait without ANY money until then because ABSA had not even taken initiative to mail me regarding this before doing a deduction? I don't even have money to fill my car with fuel

This is absolutely ludicrous and if this is not resolved, with my money paid back immediately, I will be contacting the ombudsman to further this issue. I am absolutely shocked that ABSA would treat a loyal client this way
